Non-Toxic Personal Care

Someone recently said to me, "you shouldn't put anything on your skin that you wouldn't eat"... and it really got me thinking... my skin absorbs everything that I put on it... it was designed to absorb minerals and vitamins from the sun and the soil... but in an increasingly industrialized world, my body is coming into contact with all kinds of stuff it was never meant to absorb. It has certainly influenced the way I think about what I am using to wash my hair and skin. EWG.org is a great resource to learn about the toxicity of everyday household products. Their Skin Deep database features clean personal care products. Here are a few of my favorites:

Attitude Super Leaves Nourishing Shampoo: This shampoo is EWG verified and it makes my hair so soft. It also smells great, without being too strong. The liters are a great price compared to other salon quality shampoos!

Attitude Super Leaves Nourishing Conditioner: I was worried this wasn't going to offer enough moisture to my thick, dry hair... but it is the perfect weight. It also makes my hair silky soft.

Attitude Super Leaves Volume & Shine Shampoo: This shampoo is EWG verified and the smell is absolutely amazing. If you aren't sensitive to natural fragrances, this one is a great option... and my personal favorite.

Attitude Super Leaves Volume & Shine Conditioner: This conditioner is the same weight as the nourishing conditioner, but with the gorgeous citrus scent of the volumizing shampoo.

Hello Bello Kids Shampoo: This shampoo is EWG verified and has a really nice light scent. My kid loves it and uses it every time he showers. He is prone to skin sensitivities, and we haven't had any issues since we switched to this shampoo. 

David's Toothpaste: This fluoride free toothpaste makes my teeth SO WHITE. It has a great mint flavor and I love that it is completely non-toxic. 

Wild Natural Deodorant: This UK based company makes safe and effective deodorant that comes in a reusable eco-friendly case. Lots of scents and sensitivities to choose from. 50% off for new users!

David's Kid's Toothpaste: The same great technology of David's original, but in a fun strawberry watermelon flavor for kids!

Cliganic Sweet Almond Oil: I use this as a daily moisturizer. It absorbs quickly and has no fragrance. It keeps my skin feeling hydrated and eliminates dryness and itch. 

Canopy Shower Head: After I realized how much junk was in my municipal water, I decided to treat my hair and skin to the spa treatment. I splurged and invested in a filtered shower head. My hair and skin have never been better, AND no more hard water to clean in my shower!
